ICC announces umpire and referee appointments for upcoming series

The International Cricket Council has announced match referee and umpire appointments for upcoming Test, ODI and T20I series in New Zealand, West Indies and South Africa.

On 18 March, the first match in a three-Test series between New Zealand and India will get underway in Hamilton. Alan Hurst of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees will lead the playing control team for all three matches.

Simon Taufel of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Ian Gould of the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires will stand in the first Test. When the action moves to Napier for the second Test, Gould will be joined in the middle by Billy Doctrove, also of the Emirates Elite Panel.

The third Test, in Wellington, will see the return of Taufel, who will officiate with Doctrove.

Meanwhile, with the Tests now complete, the West Indies and England go head-to-head in a five-match ODI series beginning in Guyana on 20 March. Javagal Srinath of the elite panel will be the match referee for all five matches. Aleem Dar of the elite umpires’ panel will stand in all five matches along with local appointments.

In South Africa a two-match Twenty20 International series and a five-match ODI series will get underway on 27 March in Johannesburg. Jeff Crowe of the elite panel will be the match referee and he will be joined by local umpire appointments for the two T20Is.
